Over the past couple weeks, I worked on a video project for a class that I am in. We were given several options for kinds of projects that we could do. I chose to go the “artsy” route.
I wanted to create a video that was meaningful to me and that had a powerful message. Confidence is something that I have struggled to define my whole life. Being a member of Kappa Delta has helped me learn a lot more about confidence and how it should be defined. Part of Kappa Delta’s mission statement is to “build confidence” in women and girls, so a lot of what we do as members of the organization is centered around this.
Since coming to college, I have learned a lot about myself already. I am a more confident woman today because I have been learning to define what that should mean to me in the correct way. I think this is something that is so important because so many woman and girls struggle with this.
Once I knew what I wanted to do my video about, I wrote the script for my voiceover and recorded that first. Then, I planned out my video shots. Planning those out really went a long way in making the editing process easier for me. I knew that I wanted to film my friend doing her makeup. I think that women putting on makeup is honestly when many of us are at our most vulnerable state. We are often covering up insecurities and analyzing and judging ourselves. I wanted to convey this in my footage and portray a sense of empowerment by the end.
I am very happy with the way my project turned out and I hope you all enjoy it!
